5 The Azov Battalion is a Ukrainian army division formed from volunteers in Mariupol in 2014. Originally, their goal was to fight against pro-Moscow military units participating in the effort to separate the Donetsk and Luhansk regions from Ukraine. Russian propaganda uses the Azov battalion as a symbol of so-called Ukrainian neo-Nazism.
